Imposter Post
  --31 March, 2008, 0:48:34
So, this is me, Andrew, guest-writing for Marike, since she's not feeling too good, and I thought I'd help her keep her New-Years resolution.
Went on a 2-day trip to Victoria, BC - it was amazing. Visited The Castle, Buchart gardens, the Bug Zoo, Butterfly Gardens and a couple of other things I can't remember right now, but overall, a bundle of fun. Took tons of pictures, and as soon as they're sorted, and the ones that show Marike in a less-than-totally-completely-and-undeniably-favourable-light are locked away in a deep, dark directory never to be seen again, the good ones will be posted on her site.
Spring quarter starts tomorrow.
I think that's all I have as a guest writer, hopefully all you adoring fans were not too disappointed with an impostor post.
And, to round off this post, a joke.
A baby seal walks into a club...

WOOO!
  --18 March, 2008, 23:20:48
Finals are done. This makes me really, really happy. Here are some of my study materials. And some cute shoes.
*edit* After some cleaning I found another half ream of lecture notes and practice exams.

Finals
  --17 March, 2008, 0:20:48
So yeah. Stuyding for finals. I was reminded that I'd made a New Year's resolution regarding regular site updates. I stared at my computer for a couple of minutes, wondering why I had stopped studying. Surely I must be researching something. But what? I was reminded that I came here to update my site. So resolution kept...so far. There should be plenty of time for a nifty update mid next week.

Good stuff
  --9 March, 2008, 21:26:10
There are some new pictures up in my gallery. Actually you can just click that nifty box up there on the left, because my latest mini is also up on eBay. *gasp* I know it's been a long time, but this one's for charity.
Also, I've survived another wave of midterms. I'm not good at test taking, as I tend to panic easily. The biochemistry midterm was particularly tricky. All the problems on the first page, despite being multiple choice, required a great deal of thought. My plan was to come back later and solve them, or at least make some guesses. After leaving the test room, I realized that I'd forgotten to do that and the first page was basically blank. Yikes. After a week of waiting, my fingernails are significantly shorter and my grades are in. It seems that I got a standard deviation above the mean even with a blank page, which is an A- or so. Woo! Hooray for curved scores.

Purple, and some news.
  --3 March, 2008, 1:11:02
So copper oxidation is sometimes drab, and sometimes a pretty teal. Yesterday, I got a nice purple out of it. Perhaps there is something special about leaving a tea kettle boiling for a long time. Special as in an unusual reaction, not as in "short bus." Actually, I suspect it's both this time. :P
So I do have some real news. It seems I'm able to go to Reapercon. Whee!
Also, I have a picture of my entry to genghis con up on cmon. It's a good picture in the sense that it's motivated me to get better at using my camera. Or rather, I've asked Andrew to google the possible causes of grittiness that is typical of my pictures.
This mini will be auctioned for charity before too long. In the meantime, I'm going to try for some better pictures.
