stuff and things
  --27 September, 2007, 11:04:31
School has started. As expected biochemistry looks kinda scary. Biology ought to be a blast though. My teacher is a very, very energetic...spaz--bless her. She can't bring herself to say words like, "defecate" or "mate." This is a really amusing trait for a biology teacher to have. "...and then the frog gets rid of the stuff that he's done with," and "...the male fly does things to the female." I will surely be paying attention in class, if only to find ways of making her say naughty words.

I guess that headline's a bit deceiving since I failed to get on top of yesterday's mountain. It seemed like a fine day to trek to the top of Mt. St Helens. Turns out it wasn't. It got rather rainy and quite blowy. We failed to summit. However the soggy folks coming down off of the mountain told us stories of 60-70mph wind gusts.
However I am on top of my email. If you're expecting to hear back from me but haven't yet, it means that your letter was lost in the post-gencon shuffle. I'm very sorry. Please try again. :)
Also I'm getting closer in getting caught up in posting. I'm still waiting on images of Skarre, and a close up of the angler fish from the Black Pearl. I do have a picture of my latest freebooter project.
Wait, there's more! Thanks to Chris Engler for helping me flesh out my Inspirational gallery by finding a picture of Anne's Golden demon winning Lucretia Belladonna.
Derek has given me permission to post pictures of his most awesome diorama. This is the most amazing piece of miniature art that I have seen yet.

Farewells

Farewell to my parents. Your three week visit was lovely.
Farewell to my goldfish. We're all very sorry that moving the gutter's downspout caused the moss killer to drain into the pond.
To my remaining goldfish: I dubb thee Achilles. You truly are one of a kind.
In painting news I'm getting back to speed after getting rid of my hazardous techniques. The hardest to cope with was the loss of my trademark wipe-on-thumb technique.
To replace it, I first started with a wet paper towel on a plate. That didn't work very well, so I tried wiping the brush on the carpet tape on the top of the lid to which she was fastened. That didn't work either, so I tried wiping it on the lid itself. No good. Next I tried wiping it on a small spot on the base, that worked well enough, but there wasn't enough room and excessive paint buildup is bad. Finally I settled on putting one of the many credit card offers I get to good use. They're working pretty well as wet/dry palettes.

Heading for the hills
  --8 September, 2007, 12:00:13
My tests have all come back. The unpleasant metals in my system are not present in large enough quantities to cause too much damage. I'm not clean, but I'm not facing serious problems. Woo!
The funny lump shows up as a funny lump on a ct scan. Fortunately it doesn't look cancerous. So nothing bad ought to happen between now and two months from now, when I'll be able to convince them to remove it.
Great news all around. I'm going to celebrate by spending what could very well be the last glorious weekend of summer by meandering around some alpine lakes.

Minis and Updates

Jade the Exotic Dancing Girl, who took first place in her category at Gencon is now up in my favorite's gallery.
These past couple weeks, post-gencon, have been spent relearning my painting techniques. It turns out that for Vallejo paint users, brush licking and wiping the brush on your thumb are a thing of the past. Whoops, there go two of my fundamentals.
I have been a bad role model in such things. For all who have taken my classes over the years: Just don't get that paint on you.
The results of my heavy metal tests should be back any day now. Since there may be some connection between vallejo paint use, and cancerous lumps on the head, I'm off to visit my friendly local otolaryngologist the day after tomorrow.
I have fallen behind in my email. Be it business, personal, or even thank you emails, it's been neglected. My apologies to you all. I hope to get back on top of things soon.
