In Barcelona we stayed in a lovely sublet.
At the base of La Rambla.
Barcelona was full of art for art's sake. We liked these arches.
This was the veranda. Every morning and evening the lovely jasmine flowers were visited by a hummingbird hawkmoth.
What could be more wonderful than the view? That would be the spider in the cacti.
The spider.
One of the lovely view's of Gaudi's housing complex, turned monumental park.
My father holds up the carriageway.
a teeny, tiny view of the same. I'll be back to fix this.
My turn to hold up the column.
Up on top of the carriage way.
Gaudi is one of the coolest architects out there. Here you can see the palm trees he's made out of stone, behind the real ones.
My parents in front of the would-be market stall.
The swirls, and the angels and the colors...aren't they great?
I was so excited; I read about all of this, but this was my first time seeing it in person.
My dad took this shot, I think it's particularly neat.
These arches are not parabolic, like your classical roman ones. My dad tells me that these are built from a hyperbolic cosine arc.
My text book had this image in it. Now I'm in it too! :D
A neat fountain.
My folks, enjoying the shade.
The neat ceilings of the market.
I stole my mom's sandwich when she took this photo.
More fabulous stone sculpture.
I like the stone basket balconies.
Inside the Sagratta Familia.
This is the Sagratta Familia upside down, and a tad blurry. The strings have weights on them, to determine where the loadbearing supports need to go.
Who wouldn't love a temple complete with sea turtles?
One of the reasons I love Gaudi architecture is because it looks like it belongs underwater.
This is the house where we rented a room.
Mountains!
A nice family portraid.
Something funny just happened...
Someone was taking a picture of the clouds when the jet plane shot out, and made a lovely picture.
Down the mountain a bit, or up a ways, depending on your direction of travel, were some monks.
The gondola.
This shot was fun to take.
I love this picture of my parents. There were no seats left on the train, so we sat in a spot designated for luggage. I was across the aisle. Gosh darned American tourists.
There were leeches, mosquito larva, and mysterious patches of wiggle worms in there.
Ranger Reimer.
This is an underpass for a Roman aqueduct.
A frequent sight during travels with my parents.
